Restore basic functionality

Jan Delember requested to merge feature/fix-cluster-event-wrapper into develop

The cluster event wrapper will now compile again and work like in 4.22. However, there are still a few things I want to improve and I also need to eliminate some deprecation warnings, so I'll leave it as WIP for now.
