Our Mission Statement
The Unreal-based Character Plugin will be developed under the following mission statement:

Providing Authentic Virtual Humans
Our plugin is supposed to provide all aspects required to enliven virtual humans, focusing on computer-controlled virtual agents. To this end, all feature sets required for a meaningful and believable character's behavior are provided.
Unreal-based
This work is based on the real-time 3D creation platform Unreal Engine, in the latest version supported by our research group.
Immersive, Virtual Environments
The focus of our plugin is the discipline of Virtual Reality (VR) and thus immersive, virtual environments. Due to this, aspects like real-time requirements and cluster-compatibility are of prime importance during our development. Furthermore, special behavior sets and sound features required for VR settings will be provided. By this, normal, non-immersive computer settings can also be served by our library.
In the Most Efficient, Reliable, and User-friendly Way Possible
All features we provide in our plugin are tested carefully and run stable on the OSs supported by our research group. However, as the plugin also depends on some external libs and plugins, we cannot guarantee the absence of all failures. But we try our very best.
We provide user interfaces to generate general, believable and authentic characters out-of-the-box. This allows a quick and secure embedment into various scientific and industrial VR applications. In addition, we provide interfaces allowing to manually adapt parameters and behaviors in order to tailor the character and his/her responsiveness to the special needs of an application. These interfaces can be used in the blueprints or the C++ code.
