# Getting Back on Track
## Governing Questions
*
What's the goal of this (short-/mid-term)?
*
We need a motivating, realistic, well-justified goal that is not as artificial as the stuff we are currently doing.
*
Can we write a paper together - just any one's next paper - and drive the features by that paper?
*
Are we doing too much process?
*
Overwhelming answer:
**yes!**
*
Where can we shave away parts of the process?
*
Are all process elements well-understood / well-practiced?
*
Is "architecture by committee" a good idea?
*
probably not
*
What are other options?
*
How can we streamline our discussions?
*
We repeatedly get bogged down with minor issues and discuss them at length.
*
How can we focus time and effort on essential things?
*
Yes, a properly defined goal does help...
*
How can we improve planning?
*
We more or less randomly picked features w/o any context.
*
We just did features for the sake of doing features.
*
How can we improve?
